Have you ever heard the phrase, “Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future”? Well, there’s a lot of truth to that statement. In fact, when you “Find GODLY Relationships, it helps you unlock your purpose”
If you have been watching this Friendship series you’ve already learned “How to find friends” and “How to build Godly Relationships”. But do you know how that plays a role in unlocking your purpose?
When you have Friendship with God and others, you no longer feel the need to “fit in” or find acceptance. Because you don’t need it, you already have it. You don’t have to spend all your time and energy trying to be a part of the crowd. You already know who you are as a beloved son or daughter and you’re not alone anymore. With Godly relationships you can spend your time and energy on what really matters – unlocking your purpose. Those relationships are like anchors in a sense for our life. Anchors keep the boat steady when the wind and waves begin to hit. And sometimes the winds and waves can hit pretty hard. But with those Godly Relationships in place, they not only keep us steady, but also help us step into our purpose. And as they point us back to Jesus, they help us see the world differently.
Look at Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. If you don’t know the story you can find it in Daniel 3 in the bible. They had each other as Godly relationships. So, they had the courage to do what was right when it was super difficult. And even though they were thrown into a fiery furnace for it, Jesus joined them and kept them safe. After that, the whole nation looked to God because of them. The world saw revival because those Godly relationships saw the world differently, they unlocked their purpose.
Or how about Paul and Silas in the New Testament? They were locked up for sharing the hope of Jesus. And because they had each other, they were able to praise God and worship Him in the middle of a very dark time. If you don’t know the story, there was an earthquake, and prison doors flew open and then everyone’s chains came loose, but these guys stayed and led the prison guard & his family to faith in Jesus. Their lives were changed because Paul & Silas unlocked their purpose, to carry hope. They helped each other stay focused on Jesus & His mission, not their circumstances. They saw the world differently.
Godly Relationships help unlock your purpose. So, what about you? Do you have Godly relationships that help you see the world differently? To see people differently.
Godly Relationships help you begin to see people the way Jesus does. The mission Jesus has invited you to be a part of is to reach the lost, lonely and broken in this world. Instead of going to school looking for acceptance, trying to fit in, now you can look for ways to carry hope to your friends. You start to see them differently. At home you’re not fighting with your family, instead you’re able to carry hope in your home because you see them differently. When you post on social media platforms, instead of posting like the world does, you can use it as a platform to carry hope. You can carry hope to those around you when you’re able to see them the way Jesus does. That’s what happens when you have Godly relationships in your life. It activates your faith & helps unlock your purpose.
So, what is this purpose that’s being unlocked? If you haven’t caught it yet, it’s carrying HOPE to people.. Jesus is always leading us to other people who need freedom & hope. That’s why we can’t “unlock our God given purpose” disconnected from our classmates, people on our teams, or those in our family because they are the ones we get to carry hope to. The reason some of us never unlock our purpose is because we’re still so focused on trying to fit in. Still focused on ourselves. But when we find Friendship with God and others as we build these godly relationships, it changes how we see people, and it helps unlock our purpose.
Finding friendship with God and others is a journey. It’s a journey of trust and freedom. But the more we take steps in this direction, the more it unlocks our God Given purpose in life. It’s not always easy but it is always worth it. Find friends, Build Godly Relationships and Unlock your purpose together.
