Learn To Have Fruit That Last

Description

You were created to leave a lasting impact in your generation. But how do we do that? Is it by being the most popular student, or having the most followers or the best grades?

You were created to leave a lasting impact in your generation. But how do we do that? Is it by being the most popular student, or having the most followers or the best grades?
What if I told you that leaving a lasting impact had everything to do with fruit? I know, I know, what does fruit have to do with leaving a lasting impact? Everything!
In John 15 Jesus tells us that He is the vine, we are the branches, that when we remain in him and he in us we will bear much fruit, fruit that lasts. That’s the how.
But where does this lasting fruit come from? Well, it all starts as a seed, a word from Jesus that gets planted in our heart, gets cultivated as we talk about it with our circle and starts to grow. And, it’s up to us to steward that seed. And as we tend it, and others help us water it, God makes it grow; lasting fruit.
And if Jesus is the vine and we are the branches, then spiritually that means that we leave a lasting impact as we grow the fruit of the spirit in our lives; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control.
And the whole point of fruit is to pass on the life of Jesus in you to someone else. Things like speaking encouraging words in your friend group or being kind to that student that no one else talks to. But if we don’t steward the seed, the fruit won’t grow and we won’t have fruit to give the people in our lives.
That’s why Jesus reminds us several times in John 15 to remain in Him, that no branch can produce fruit apart from Him, and that if we remain in Him, we will bear fruit that will last. And we don’t keep that fruit for ourselves, we’re called to give it away!
So, allow seed that’s been deposited in you to become fruitful because what is ultimately in fruit? More seed. So, when you grow fruit in your life, give it away and when that fruit hits the ground of someone’s heart it has a new seed that begins to grow and all of sudden they wake up one day and they’re a completely different person.
That’s what leaving a lasting impact is all about, staying connected to Jesus, growing fruit, giving it away and seeing life transformation happen in the lives of others!
You are called to leave a lasting impact in your generation. So, what are some ways you can remain in Jesus and what fruit would grow in your life that can be given away to leave a lasting impact?
